Finite Element Analysis Training Course - March 2012
With over 70 man-years of analysis experience in the Process, Marine, Utility, Automotive, Plastics and Bio Medical industries, Matrix Applied Computing Ltd is offering a training course workshop focusing on the practical aspects of using FEA.
This course is a must for all engineers wishing to use FEA in real life applications and is independent of the package you may currently be using such as Abaqus, Nastran, Solidworks Simulation or other FEA software.
This course will help you answer the following:
Day One (Tuesday 13th March)
- What are the theoretical foundations of FEA?
- What approximations and simplifications can I make to my models?
- How do I know the answer is right?
- What are the limits of my FEA program?
- How do I use elements and other abstractions correctly?
- What mesh generation techniques can I use?
- When I refine the mesh why does the answer keep going up?
Day Two (Wednesday 14th March)
- When should I use Linear or non-linear buckling analysis?
- How does FEA handle material non-linearity?
- How should detailed joints be modelled and interpreted?
- What is the best approach for modelling assembled components?
- What is non-linear analysis and when should I use it?
- What is the difference between different FEA programs?
- How can FEA help me understand dynamic structural problems?
- Linear dynamics (natural frequency, transient and forced response)
The first day is intended for new users and those requiring an overview of the capabilities and limitations of FEA. At the completion of day one, the user should be confident of creating a small job and obtaining sensible results.
The second day extends this, concentrating on more advanced topics, and is focused on providing an understanding of how to avoid/tackle the more difficult analysis jobs.
Throughout the course, emphasis will be placed on the practical aspects of developing and validating models to obtain sensible results. Ample time will be available for discussion with the presenter and a set of course notes will be supplied.
