Our thoughts are with Christchurch
First and foremost our thoughts and concerns are with those affected by the Christchurch earthquake, especially those who have lost family and friends. Matrix has a substantial client base in Canterbury and we are committed to providing them with the support and assistance required to aid them in getting up and running as quickly as possible again.
Australian Manufacturer Implements Effective PLM
In 2010, Matrix and ANCA Motion completed a pilot project to develop a customised manufacturing CM system for managing product, software, and process data. This pilot was successful and ANCA Motion is now working with Matrix to continue the development and deployment of Innovator and has become a subscribed client of Matrix and Aras.
ANCA Motion design and manufacture customised control systems that are used in world class machines. Their control systems are used on a number of applications ranging from complex 5 axes machine tools to 2 axes profile cutters and single axis stand alone applications. NZ Customers adopt Abaqus FEA software!
This first quarter has seen 5 New Zealand companies select Dassault Simulia Abaqus as their premier Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software tool.
Abaqus has always enjoyed the reputation as the most comprehensive and robust non-linear code in the market and its ability to solve the toughest of problems is second to none. Simulia, with its large development team, has an extremely aggressive development strategy and recent developments have seen the inclusion of:
- XFEM - extended FEA method for fracture and general failure analysis
- Integrated CFD capability plus a direct link to Star CCM+ for fully coupled fluid structure interaction (FSI)
- Fully coupled thermal, structural and electrical capability as well as an upcoming release of electromagnetic analysis capability
- Topology optimisation in May release
Abaqus in recent years has been identified as having the most comprehensive integrated composites analysis capability with the ability to interact with the software via a spreadsheet capability leading to two way integration with Excel for ply layup specification. This with the ability to copy, mirror, suppress and reactivate plies leads to rapid optimisation of the layup. Another one of its secrets is the inbuilt rigid and flexible body dynamics capability and its comprehensive capability for geotechnical applications.
If you'd like to join the rapidly growing group of companies using Abaqus for a wide range of different physics problems, email abaqus-tech@matrix.co.nz. We would love the opportunity to discuss your Finite Element Analysis requirements with you.
