Traditionally engineers have used spreadsheets for calculations. These often start with a few calculations and develop into complex design tools. The problem with spreadsheets is that all those calculations are hidden in the formulae and cross references within the cells of the spreadsheet. While it is possible to examine the formula in each cell one at a time, understanding how an entire spreadsheet works is often a monumental task making it difficult to use by anyone other than the original author. Full quality assurance is very difficult to achieve.
TEDDS allows an Engineer to write calculations using Microsoft WordTM in much the same way as they might be written by hand. The important distinction between using Word and a spreadsheet to write calculations is that all calculations are clearly visible on the page. TEDDS calculations are not a ‘black box’ solution. The calculations and the resulting output are intrinsically one and the same thing; there is no concept of using one process to calculate the required results and then using a different process to produce a report to present those results. A TEDDS calculation is both the calculation and the output in one single entity. This ensures that calculation can be easily followed resulting in easy checking and verification.
TEDDS also includes a comprehensive and ever-expanding library of civil and structural engineering calculations for a variety of materials and structural forms. The TEDDS Engineering Library is available in five regional versions for Australia, Asia, Canada, Great Britain and USA. These calculations are presented in an engineering format and are readily available for checking by any other engineer.

TEDDS is available in a number of different versions tailored to meet your specific need including TEDDS, TEDDS for Word, TEDDS Publisher and TEDDS Lite.
TEDDS
TEDDS allows you to use the calculations available in the included TEDDS Engineering Library which is available for specific regions including, Asia, Australia, Canada, Great Britain and the U.S.A. A completed calculation creates a TEDDS document that can be re-calculated, saved, printed, emailed or exported to Microsoft WordTM.
TEDDS includes a free license for S-Frame Lite, a fully functioning, 50 member version of S-Frame 2D/3D structural analysis software. S-Frame facilitates effective analysis for a wide range of structures.
TEDDS for Word
TEDDS for Word is the ultimate productivity tool for day to day repetitive calculations. TEDDS for Word extends the capabilities of the standalone TEDDS application to allow you to write your own calculations. TEDDS for Word is an Add-In for Microsoft Word allowing you to use all of Word's powerful functionality when writing your documents. To write your own calculations you simply type the variables and formulae within a Word document and then use TEDDS for Word to automatically resolve all the calculations within the Word document. When the inevitable design changes occur simply amend your calculations and re-calculate the document allowing TEDDS for Word to calculate the new results. The power of Microsoft Word enables you to easily modify the document until it meets your requirements.
Because calculations are written in standard Word documents you can include anything that Word will allow you to in addition to your calculations. This includes text, pictures, spreadsheets, and the results from other software. You have the flexibility to write and format your documents any way you want to.
TEDDS for Word also allows you to use all of the calculations in the standard TEDDS Engineering Library and provides you with the power to link calculations together into a single document.
TEDDS Publisher
TEDDS Publisher provides your company with a cost effective solution for developing high quality standard calculations that can be distributed throughout your organization or customer base using the free TEDDS Lite software. TEDDS Publisher provides everything you need to start publishing TEDDSLite calculations including software licenses for TEDDS for Word, the Professional Developer Tools plus a TEDDS Lite publishing license. The Developer Tools allow you to enhance the calculations, saved in your Calculation Library, to create professional solutions that run like mini Windows programs. The Professional Developer tools are used by CSC's own Engineers to develop the calculations for the TEDDS Engineering Library.
TEDDS Lite
TEDDS Lite is free software that allows you to use specially published TEDDS calculations. TEDDS Lite calculations are distributed separately from the TEDDS Lite software by CSC and other licensed third parties. Although reduced in functionality in comparison to the commercial versions of TEDDS, TEDDS Lite none the less provides an exceptional platform for publishing and using calculations.
TEDDS Lite does not allow you to use the calculations from the standard TEDDS Engineering Library however some of the library calculations are made available by CSC so that you can experience for yourself the benefits that TEDDS calculations provide. TEDDS Lite calculations are also published by third parties, usually free of charge. All you need to do is install TEDDS Lite and then install the TEDDS Lite calculations that you want to use.
